First week as a trainer (and LOTS of pictures)

WOW.  This past week has been again very humbling, but in a different way than before.

I was very nervous to start training a new missionary while still being a new missionary myself but the Lord has helped me out so much! I have NEVER been so humbled by the compliments that people have given me this last week ... especially those coming from my companion, Elder Broulim. 

Members of the ward, as well as people I have been teaching have noticed a difference in me and in the way I teach, talk to people, and act.  I didn't notice what had been happening until Elder Broulim started pointing things out to me.  I wish I could tell you all but I don't even know where to begin or even how to explain it without saying it face-to-face. The Lord has been blessing me BEYOND anything I deserve and I feel so unworthy of it.  My words through prayer or my words on this email cannot even begin to express the feelings and blessings I feel in my life. My companion said, "These past few days it hasn't been you speaking ... there is no way a man could say or know what you just said to that person."  I humbly say it is true. Lately I've felt the Holy Ghost impressing upon me things I need to say to help touch people in this area and I had no clue it was happening until it was pointed out.  I AM NOTHING,!  I only do and say what the Lord wants me to do or say.  I deserve nothing of what people have said about me this last week here because it isn't me saying or doing these things...  I am just a servant of the Lord striving to do my best with what I know at this time. I was worried about teaching but every lesson we have taught together has been great and the Spirit has been really strong. I've never spoken or felt the Spirit tell me things so obvious ever before while on my mission.

Elder Broulim is a great missionary already and is willing to work very hard.  My goal by the time he's done training is to make him a better missionary than I was and it is definitely reachable because he is very prepared.  He is from Idaho ( I called it! ;) ) haha  His family owns a grocery store chain and he's all about the outdoors and football, and he likes basketball too... so that helps!  Also, when I picked him up we were wearing matching Nixon watches... it's meant to be!  He has said the MOST humbling comments and kindest words ANYONE has ever said to me in my whole life! I truly love him already and feel so honored to be his trainer.

The love for this area is always increasing and the people are truly amazing. Our ward is getting a lot better and I talked to my Bishop yesterday and a miracle happened.  He said "yes" to having us come to ward council now so I'm extremely blessed because I feel there is so much the ward can do to help our investigators progress ... as well as make our ward even better. :)

Shout out to the Butterfield family. They are so kind to us and always take us in as if were family. The Gonzolas family as well... they are also SO kind to us and always there for us no matter what. The friendships I have with members in our congregation is an eternal friendship!

I love the Lord ... He is my strength.

I cleaned up the WHOLE apartment the night before Elder Broulim came because I'm in charge of it now.  I threw a ton away and organized stuff!  I had like 3 bags full .... my mom would have been proud :)

BIG WEEK!

So ...  a lot has happened this last week. 

First off I have sad news... and that is that Elder Schneider and I will not be companions anymore after Tuesday. He is getting transferred because my training is now over . He is so awesome though because he just got called to be a Zone Leader. Basically he's a leader over like 20 or so missionaries. He's going to do so awesome even though it will be a lot more time and work. 

Also this last Wednesday I went on exchanges with Elder Magalei ... the guy in the pics I sent from the temple. He's a big Samoan from Cali (the Bay area) and we,  of course, were like brothers already!  Ha!   So we got to teach Institute that night again and had 3 minutes to prepare a lesson.  Earlier that day I took him to go see this referral we had and as we were talking to people I checked my phone and had a missed phone call from the mission president.  I look at Elder Magalei and he says, "Its for you I bet," and I was like, "there's no way."  I call back and President Miller said he feels inspired to call me to a leadership position and wants me to be a trainer for a brand new missionary!!!  I, of course, said "yes" but was freaking out and still am!  Ha!  I feel now more than ever that the Lord will help me. Even though I am still a brand new missionary myself with the Lord's help I can still help train a new one. I'm very humbled to have been asked to do this and am very excited to pick up my trainee on Tuesday. 

The sad news is that Elder Schneider is going up north. Words cannot express how much I love that guy ... he's truly my brother/ companion/ eternal friend. I would not be as ready as I am to train or to be a successful missionary if it weren't for him. Something that Elder Schneider brought to my attention when I was ranting to him that I wasn't ready to have this calling and to train he reminded me of what the mission president said ... "one of the greatest showings of trust and leadership is being a trainer" and that the Lord called me for a reason. I can't wait to stay in this area and continue to serve in El Paso.  I love it here and the people more and more each day. 

Also, the first people I told about my call was Jake and Mary Salgado ...they are like my family from home.  They are the coolest recently married couple ever and i consider them my lasting best friends and family.  They have helped me so much with their love and strong spirits and have taken care of me.  They are the ones who post instagram pictures of me! Haha!   Last Saturday both of us and 2 spanish elders went to see this lady who was taught by the missionaries 8 months ago but moved. We went in and could tell something was wrong but she had a smile on her face the whole time. She told us stuff like that she has been to prison 3 times already and had to leave her 3 children, (2 years each time) and that she will be returning soon. So told us about her drug addictions and shoplifting problems and how she literally has no money and no one would hire her. After the end of our conversation each of us bore testimony that God loves her and wants her to rid of all her addictions and to be on the right path. This women was in tears felt the spirit and the love of the Savior and felt hope. It was one of the saddest stories I've heard from someone since being on my mission but I saw the Lord's hand in using us to comfort her. Things like this are real... everyone needs to be more grateful for what they have and remember who they are including myself. Please find someone this next week that you know you can help and give them joy. Keep going strong and next week I'll tell you about my trainee and send a picture :) I pray for all my family and friends.

Email from April 22nd

This past week has been kind of hard with getting member present and lessons with investigators but we were still able to get a few. 

The more we teach and answer peoples questions the more I learn. We had a referral from the Salt Lake  City Temple Visitors Center but he was not at all interested when we stopped by and saw him. We continued talking with him about his job, and why he stopped by the temple visitors center he began to open up with Elder Schneider and I.  By the end of the conversation he told us that a friend gave him a Book of Mormon with highlighted pages to read but he hasn't read it yet but will do it now.  He said that when his truck is out front to stop by and see him. It showed me that we should never give up when someone "thinks" they are not interested but we should continue to care for them and show our interest in them and they will feel that love you have for them and how badly you want to share a message with them.

Elder Schneider is amazing... the best companion/ example/ district leader. I truly feel blessed to be with him and I know that the Lord put me with him to learn so much from him and apply those things to myself. I remember when I first got out he said that by the end of your training you should know the basics of everything, and at the end I should be able to tell him everything a missionary does and what to do.  I thought that was totally crazy but that's been a motivating factor to help me ask questions on things I don't understand or how things work or numbers and everything... its been awesome to have such a great trainer who teaches me and who knows the importance of all the many things we do. I feel blessed to have wonderful missionaries around me who I can learn from and zone leaders who really care for our zone and want to improve it. 

Though this week wasn't one of our best I feel privileged and extremely blessed for what I've been given and it has really humbled me. Thank you for all that you do for us missionaries. My personal goal next week is to work on Christ-like attributes ... one per day and then at the end do the assessment of attributes in PMG.  Elder schneider and I are planning on teaching a lot of lessons as well next week so I have faith our numbers will be a lot better!

Hey guys!

This past weekend was just wonderful. I love having General Conference!!  For those who don't know what General Conference is it is when our church leaders speak and it is broadcasted via satellite so it is viewed across the whole world. EVERY member of the church watches this on a Saturday and Sunday and it's truly amazing. We hear from the apostles, the prophet and other members of the church. Of course my favorite talk was by Elder Holland ... I have to meet that man someday!!  As I watched I heard things that I needed to hear at this time and I had answers to the questions I had. Also, we had 4 investigators tuning in to watch it as well... so that was awesome.  I recognized L. Whitney Clayton... it took me a while but I finally remembered that I head him speak when I was at the MTC ... so it was so cool to know that I was watching him speak live just a few months ago!  haha 

There is a deaf lady in my ward so it is so cool that I can do a little bit of sign language with her and she LOVES that I can sign just a little bit ... she's an amazing follower of Christ and is very kind and patient with people. 

YESTERDAY I got a call from my mission president and, of course, my luck is not the best.  He told me there are only certain websites that I'm allowed to go on.  I went onto Deseret Bookstore's website to look for 3 DVDS that I wanted my dad to order for me and I didn't know I couldn't.  The mission president found out and called me and told me the reasons we are only allowed to go on certain sites.  He also found out about my blog and thought it was ME who updated it every week!!  haha  So, I had to clear that up but that's a call I hope I'll never have to get again ... but something like that would happen to me out of all people!

This last week was a good week but could of been better. We were hoping to teach a lot more this last week but I feel that my relationship through prayer with my Heavenly Father has been increasing and that has been a HUGE blessing.  I've also been reading the scriptures and gaining more and more knowledge.  If any of you who are reading this need help/ advice/ or anything please don't hesitate to shoot me an email or letter and I'll do my best to help :)

Humbling

So, last week was a learning process for me and was very humbling. 

We had 8 investigators say that they were going to come to church on Easter Sunday but ZERO of them showed up. :(  It was tough but it was still a great service.  Elder Schneider and I both went up and bore our testimony completely on the Savior and each shared a scripture on Christ. Then we had a lot of our apointments fall through again this last week and people not keeping commitments but that is what we signed up for!  ha  Gotta' keep pressing forward! 

We had exchanges with the Zone Leaders (2 missionaries that are over us and we report our numbers too).  I stayed in my area and Elder Schultz was my companion for the day. It was all on me to plan for the day, and drive everywhere and see and do what I thought we should do. It was hard because no one was home so we ended up knocking on doors for a few hours in the blazing sun! ha  It was really hard for me... not just getting rejected by literally EVERY door but because these people were so closed minded -  they didn't want to hear any truth. It's hard because I try to view them as the Savior would and I know that every one of those people are children of God and that what we can teach them will change their lives and bless them and their family and make them so much happier but NO ONE cared at all. But it had to happen ... I know it happened for a reason.  We just got a taste of what the Lord went through as He taught the gospel when he was on the earth and he was rejected. Keep pressing forward!! 

Two weeks ago I went to a hospital emergency room and gave a blessing to a less active member in our ward. He had a heart problem and was close to death and they didn't know what or why it happened. When we walked in the room he started saying it's not his time... he still has to finish the Book of Mormon and the Bible, get sealed in the temple with his wife, get his family's work done for the temple, and get the Melchizedek Preisthood. Right away I felt that he was going to be ok, and that the Lord is using this to JUMP start him back on the right path and to get him back to church and do all that the Lord wants him to. I was VERY nervous and felt down in a way because the last time I saw someone sick on a hospital bed and gave a blessing to someone that sick was my Mother. I could feel the Adversary working on me - giving me fear, doubt and those memories to keep me down BUT I prayed that I could have courage and strength.  I gave him a priesthood blessing and the Lord told me a lot to tell him to help his life and his health. Yesterday this man was at church and he mentioned that two days after the blessing he was out of the hospital and the doctor was MAD because he could not explain what happened or how he recover so fast ... NO explanation. But we know it was the blessing, and that he had faith that he would be healed and did all that the Lord told me to say in the blessing and now he's totally fine and back working and taking care of his wife but with a new glow... realizing how important the Gospel is as well as life. It was amazing to me and testified to me again how important that priesthood authority is. 

On my mom's birthday this last Tuesday I listened to God Be With You Til' We Meet Again once in the morning and once right before bed.  It brought me so much joy and comfort knowing that "till we meet, and Jesus feet". I often times bring her up or remember what she's taught me. The Lord blessed me with having her as my mother <3 

The Gospel Of Jesus Christ is real and it WILL bless your life IF you stay faithful and do all the Lord asks of you. Tell the World He lives!!!

Hello everyone!

So this past week I finished my first book called Our Search for Happiness by Elder Ballard. It was awesome.  For all of you who are not members READ it because it explains this Gospel perfectly.  If you are a member your should still read it and then give it to a non-member friend. 

So, I heard a really cool promise yesterday at church for all of the members in our stake. They were told that if they drive directly to the Juarez Mexico temple that they will make it safely  and that the Lord will protect them and NO one has had any problems. 

So, it was transfers and Elder Schneider and I are staying together for another 6 weeks... which is tight!  We used to be in a only sister missionary district but now it is bigger since we got 4 new elders!  Pretty awesome. I had to speak and play piano for the meeting because my comp is the district leader (haha). I hate playing piano when I'm rusty. 

My aunt told me that I've got over a thousand views on my blog!!  That was so humbling to hear ... I truly hope this uplifts people as they read.  PLEASE share it with non-member friends...l want it to be a missionary opportunity as well. :) 

Last Sunday I attended Moises baptism.  He has tattoos all over his body and face, and has been investigating for 5 YEARS and now, finally, after waiting because of certain crimes he committed before he could get baptized.  Anyone can have a change of heart. He paid tithing and did everything without being a member and now he finally is. 

We met with Christopher, a divorced father with 3 girls and an awesome hispanic guy who's job is making commercials and tv shows.  I asked him to be baptized, and he said "YES" and that his step dad was a member.

 

Tomorrow is my mother's birthday.  March 26th 1970 was when our Heavenly Father gave us a very special daughter of his to BLESS ALL of us. Not a day that goes by that I don't think of her or how she would react in a situation or what she would tell me. I want everyone who reads this to do something on the 26th for someone else!!!  Because my mother was always in the service of others ... so do something on her behalf. I pray that I will feel closer to her as I serve and that her passing will only make me stronger and make me be able to testify of the Gospel and it's impact on one's life!  I have to go because I didn't have a lot of time today, but I love you all and hope you have a great week.

Miracle Week

This past week has changed everything for me. It has been the best week of my mission.

 A few days ago we met with a guy named Ray and it was our second lesson with him. We were teaching the Plan of Salvation and in the middle of it I invited him to be baptized and he said YES... but when he is ready. So, we finished teaching the lesson and asked when he thought he was ready and he said June or July.  Well, the whole time I was thinking it should be the end of March... so I told him at the end of the month he could be ready and I promised him that the Lord would provide a way and he could be ready. He said, "I Can Do It!"  We were soooo happy!

Later that night we met with a guy named Robby. One of our appointments fell through and we saw him getting his car towed and just waved.  Then on our way back to our car we asked what was wrong with his car. After a hour and a half talk he shared about his car, his life and the hard things he's gone through: like living in a car a year ago, being kicked out of his house, getting expelled from school, drugs, problems with the law, and his father passed away 4 Months ago!!  I was completely able to relate to him and I PROMISED him that our message will bless him, his wife, and his baby on the way.  I told him that this Gospel will help him with the loss of his father because it has helped me with losing my mother. He asked us to go to his apartment the next day and teach him. We taught about the Restoration and he said everything makes so much sense... he always wondered why there are so many different churches.  At the end I committed him to baptism, and literally one second after I asked he blurted out, "YES!!!!"  We were shocked and so happy at the same time.  We read out of the Book of Mormon together and he said every time he reads he feels happy and peaceful... and that he's never felt that before when he's read scriptures. Right before we left he asked if we could teach his wife because he knows she needs to hear this. We said, "Of course," and then I asked him, "Robby, do you believe that this could be Christ's true church restored on the earth once again?"  He replied, "There is no doubt in my mind that this truly is Christ's church!"  It was so amazing that I almost broke down in tears that night because of those two men who realized that baptism in this Church will forever bless and change their life and that this is the true church of God. 

Last miracle I'll share is about my companion.  He's a convert and that in its self is an amazing story.  The missionary that taught him 8 years ago was named Elder Hill. He's a huge part of why my companion converted ... but Elder Hill was transferred out before my companion knew that the church was true and that he was going to get baptized.  Over the past 8 years Elder Schneider has been searching to find him so he could tell him that he joined the church and is serving a mission...  but he NEVER found him.  

One night I called an investigator to set an appointment up, and then i usually call our dinner appointment but this time I felt like he should do it ... so I gave him the phone. He called a member who just moved here from California and asked if it was Brother Stewart? The man who answered said, "No, you have the wrong number, but I used to be a member but I left because I never found a testimony.  I went to BYU and read the Book of Mormon but never got a testimony."  Elder Schneider, of course, talked to him about it and bore his testimony about this Gospel.  He thought it was crazy that he happened to call a member but at the end he said his name was ERICK HILL.  My companion said, "This is a shot in the dark but do you know an Elder Hill who served in Arkansas?"  That man said, "Yes, my brother Brian."  INSTANTLY my companion fell to his knees and sobbed and said he's been looking for his brother Elder Hill for 8 years and that he's a huge part of why I'm serving a mission. 

After that phone call the Elder Hill called my companion and they talked and it was amazing to hear the conversation. Elder Hill told him that they have been praying for his brother to get back to church and he said when he talked to him on the phone that he KNEW he felt the spirit and that this was an answer to his family's prayers and that hopefully he will come back to church. MIRACLE. The Lord made Elder Schneider read the last two numbers wrong and dial Elder Hill's brother. It was so spiritual and touching to see. Elder Hill is now married and has two kids and goes to Northwestern (like my dad did) and graduated from BYU. It truly is something I will never forget. 

This past week has changed my life and my whole mission. My love for the people I teach has been forever growing. I know that we have a LOVING Heavenly Father who gives us miracles like I've had to strengthen us and our faith BUT theres always a trial of faith before we receive these miracle so DON'T give up when things get hard. I love you all and am praying that my words touch those of you who read this that are not members of this faith and even those who are that this will help steer you in the right path and bring hope, faith and joy into your life.

I'm a student in the JD/MBA program at Northwestern and by a serendipitous set of events, had a chance to talk to your son's missionary companion on the phone last night for a few minutes. I thought I'd send a quick note to let you know if I could hand pick a missionary companion to train my son as a missionary it would be Elder Schneider, his current companion. I taught him in the mission field when he was 17 and he's hard working Arkansas boy that is as kind as they come. He seemed pretty excited to be working with your son so I thought I'd just pass that along (especially since it was even more coincidental that your son was born in Evanston while you were at Northwestern).

Email from March 11th

Hey everyone,

So 2 weeks ago we had a zone conference. My companion and I had to do a role play as master teachers in front of everyone... the mission president and everything. It was on the kingdoms of glory and I felt we did very well. One of the zone leaders made a comment saying that as you taught you seemed like two missionaries... not like one trainer and a junior companion ... so I thought that was cool. 

Well, this last Friday we had a zone meeting just with the missionaries in El Paso and they asked us AGAIN to do a role play. It was just about how a ward council meeting should be like so it wasn't too hard, but still. haha.  

So I think I've told you about Chris.  We've been teaching him and he had a baptismal date. He's been going to Spanish ward but we started teaching him because he speaks no Spanish.  He was referred to us by the Spanish elders so we, of course, figured he lived in our area...  but we found out 4 days before his baptism that he lives in another area and another stake!  So, on Saturday he was baptized at our building so our ward and Spanish ward could come but it was under the direction of his new ward... so TECHNICALLY it's not our baptism but I still say it was!  haha It was amazing. I had to play piano in front of everyone because no one else could play and I was really rusty.  My companion and I were witnesses for the baptism. 

Also, that day was the six-month mark since my mother passed.  I wore everything that reminded me of her... my tie, ring, watch and of course my necklace that I wear everyday! I found a scripture that my mom happened to say helped her when her sister Careen passed away and now this scripture is helping me with my mom. 

D&C 101:36, 37
Wherefore, fear not unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full.

Therefore, care not for the body, neither the life of the body; but care for the soul,  and for the life of the soul.

This scripture is so powerful and meaningful to me. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that amazing women. I always pray about her and I'm trying to study doctrine about the Spirit World and what she's doing and how I can feel her in my life more. 

So, on Saturday night at 9:15pm I got a call and we were asked to speak in our ward about the Resurrection the next morning. So, after all other missionary stuff we had to do, my comp and I finally were able to start preparing at 10:15 at night. We ended up not finishing until 3:15am because of the hour time change. My desk was filled with books and scriptures and everything. We had to make it really good so we could gain the member's trust so that they will help us more as missionaries.  The missionaries before us lost a lot of their trust.  We only had 3 HOURS OF SLEEP!  It ended up going really well ... I learned a lot from preparing and a lot of members and stake representatives that were there came up and thanked us for our talks and that it kept them awake. haha We've been getting so many people that we need to contact we had to buy a whole new white board to put names on it, and we filled the whole thing up. A lot of appointments fell through last week but we are hoping this week we can actually meet with a lot more!  There is a guy named Ray that I'm going to challenge to get baptized on Wednesday and to get baptized by the end of this month! :)  We will see how that goes.

Email from March 4th

Holla!

So, first off I'm going to tell you about the baptism I had a last week. 

So he is a total STUD. His name is Jacob and he's 28 years old and has a 2 year old cute girl. He served in the military for 10 years and on his last deployment he came home and his wife was all packed up and said she's leaving and that he is taking their daughter. So his life completely changed. He had to leave their house with his little girl because the army has a rule if you are a single parent you can't serve.  Now he has his little girl so he can't be deployed or anything so they moved in with his dad.. with No job and No wife and he is going to college right now. His friend Matt is a member and he called him and said as he was moving he found a Book of Mormon that Matt gave him years ago and read some of it. He called Matt and said he wants to meet with the missionaries. 

So, before I got there they taught him the first 3 lessons and he committed to baptism. He read in Moses chapter 6 and a huge power came over him and he knew in his heart that it was true. So now his whole life is changed, he listens to church talks while he works out, he listens to them on his way to school, etc.  He's teaching his little girl how to pray, he reads the Book of Mormon and New Testament every day and goes to Institute every Wednesday and he plays ball with the ward too. He teaches me and my companion when we go over at times ... he is FULLY CONVERTED. We have never seen anyone be so desirable to have this Gospel. At his greatest moment of weakness and depression he found Christ's true church and it has forever changed his life. He will always hold a place in my heart .. the FIRST baptism ... one month since I've been a missionary and he's just amazing. 

So this week has been up and down. We haven't had a lot of appointments,and a lot of people have been canceling on us last minute.  A lot of people are busy when we try to go see them.  On Saturday we had a FULL day and really worked hard but NO ONE answered or let us in or returned our calls.  I know we did all we could and that the Lord will bless us in our efforts because we were doing all that we could!  :)  I have faith that this next week will be amazing. 

We are scheduled for another baptism this Saturday but there's been a lot of complications because his girlfriend is a memeber in the Spanish ward.  He wants to go there but he can't because he doesn't speak Spanish.  So there's a big mess but hopefully he will get baptized this Saturday. 

So I have been growing more of a love for being a missionary and really trying to be fully committed and focused on it.  I've been happier and time has been going by faster that way too, its crazy. But I'm really loving the people here. I'm literally in MEXICO!  haha  45% of the people here ONLY speak Spanish, not English, but I'm trying to learn a little bit.  I can say a few missionary-type things and the Church's name but that's about all!  ha. Well. pray that my comp and I will have a great week and bring others unto Christ. READ THE SCRIPTURES every day ... it will strengthen you in the rough world and will bring you blessings and joy... I promise. 

2 Nephi  9:18 really stood out to me this week.

First Baptism!!!

I'm so sorry everyone but I forgot my cord to download pictures so I can't send the baptism picture but I will next week.. I promise! His name is Jacob and he's 28. He's so ready for the Gospel. He's already teaching us missionaries. He just is understanding the Gospel so much more and it's a remarkable story. I'll tell the story when I send the picture next week. 

My companion and I did great this week. This area hasn't had a baptism for 6 months and we've had one and another one planned next week... and a lot of promising investigators.

In El Paso there is crazy weather. In one week we had a rainstorm, then it started hailing and then we had a sandstorm yesterday and crazy winds. It seemed every time we were out and about doing the work was in the crazy weather... but it seemed EVERY TIME we had the most success was when it was hard with weather. We knocked on a guys door who said he was just praying for some help and hope in his life then we came to the door. It was a miracle and I can't wait to see how things go with him. I feel he's ready for the Gospel!  I hope everyone has a good week and know I pray for all my family and friends every night ... all of your guys love is what keeps me going!

First Week in El Paso, Texas!

I'm so tired! I thought I was tired at the MTC but that was nothing compared to this. 

My companion is awesome and our area needs a lot of work but we have a baptism on Saturday. We have a lot of people we set appointments with next week so we're meeting with them soon and have a good feeling about a lot of them so we will see! I was able to attend another wards baptism yesterday and it was amazing to see.. the joy that comes with baptism and making that promise and receiving the Holy Ghost is so awesome.

There is a lot of goodness in the world but SO MUCH evil ... like the world is getting worse and worse and to me it's hard to see. I've talked to people and tried helping people who have done or are going through horrible things.. like stuff I don't ever want to share. So many people are getting divorced too or are in 3rd marriages and that's something I feel is sacred and people treat it like nothing. But there are still a few people we talk to that need this Gospel to help and bless their lives.

I ran into an African American family a few days ago and the dad was a military guy and wasn't at first interested, but by the time we stopped talking he took his hat off and bowed down to us and was almost tearing up and said, "You servants from the Lord are here for a reason. Come back Tuesday and don't eat. I want you to teach my whole family."  I KNOW we were there at that time for a reason. We were kinda sad because our appointment canceled that night so we just went knocking and ran into that guy. So tomorrow we are teaching him.  I'll let you guys know how it is. 

We have taught this guy Raymundo and boy is he something else. He's 60 and alone ... just him and his dog.  He has a Spanish accent and isn't a believer in God and just thinks of the craziest questions but we answer them and even though he gets on our last nerves we still love and care for him. I've only met with like ONE white family this whole week I've been here... everyone is Hispanic here.. it's nothing like Texas. It's like Mexico but just not as dangerous as it is in Juarez which is like 10 min away from us. We hear about the Cartel a lot here too and crazy stories. A lot of Mexicans here are sad because they used to live there but had to leave because of how dangerous it is.

Also there's a 15 year old girl who is an investigator. Her LDS friend (that's a girl)  dropped a rose off at her house and said it was from us. So when we went to her house her mom said she wasn't there but that the rose we dropped off made her day and was so grateful for it. W were ere like uhhhh .... that's not from us! ha ha As missionaries we don't do that! So, yea, that was really awkward!! haha  

Well, anyways, there are a lot more stories I can tell but just don't have time but next week I'll be able to share some more crazy ones and talk about the baptism. Love you all and love hearing from everyone! The church is TRUE!

Dear Taylor family,

We just had a great dinner with your son, Elder Taylor! I guess we were his first dinner appointment in the mission field! We are so excited to have him in our ward. We love our missionaries. He didn't want me to tell you his area because he is hopefully going to email you himself tommorow, and he wanted to be the one to tell you.  :) but I thought you'd like to know he is safe and doing well! It was fun to talk to him because my daughter is the same age as your daughter-first grade-so my daughter thought that was really cool. We will take good care of him!
